An important part of the assessment process is gathering background information. Before the initial appointment, an online form will be sent to gather developmental history and to briefly outline current concerns. This assists the practitioner in preparing appropriately for the appointment, focusing on what matters to you, guiding the gathering of further information, and clarifying assessment questions. Please either send ahead of time, or bring with you, along with any important documents such as school information and previous assessment reports. Intake appointments are 50-minutes.
Please note that if the assessment is for a child, then the appointment will predominantly be spent with their guardian, and it may be worth considering whether bringing a secondary caregiver is necessary if the topics of conversation are not suitable in their presence.
An assessment contract will be prepared following the appointment and requires your approval prior to the first assessment session.
PLEASE NOTE:
NDIS funding cannot be used for diagnostic assessments, as per NDIS guidelines. For plan-managed clients, we are unable to bill third-party providers (plan managers) for these assessments

Assessments are completed individually with clients in 1 to 2-hour sessions depending on the assessment measure and age of the individual. The exact outline of these appointments will differ across clinicians based on their discipline. Several assessment measures are often required and scheduled over multiple sessions. This will be discussed in the intake appointment with the clinician. Parents are welcome to wait in the waiting room while these sessions occur.
Please note that assessments are scored following their administration, and therefore immediate feedback is not possible.

Following the assessment sessions, results will be examined in reference to the assessment questions identified in the intake appointment. A formal feedback appointment will be required to discuss the outcome of the assessment, as well as recommendations and answer questions you may have regarding this assessment.
This will then be collated into a formal assessment report that will be emailed to you within 4 weeks following final payment of the report. Should the report be required sooner than this, please discuss this with your clinician. If this is possible, additional fees may occur due to the report being completed outside of the clinician’s standard work hours. Unless the assessment was requested by a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist with a referral, it is the responsibility of the client to pass on this assessment report to other relevant parties. Reports are an integral part of the assessment process and therefore required.
Please note, that the report will only be released once the full payment has been received.
Please note: If the assessment is for a child, then the appointment will predominantly be spent with their guardian, and it may be worth considering bringing a secondary caregiver if the topics of conversation are not suitable in their presence.
