About Bec (She/Her)
Rebecca is a speech and language pathologist with an extensive and diverse career as a classroom teacher. Having taught for almost 20 years across primary and secondary school settings, Rebecca completed a Masters of Speech Pathology to enhance her knowledge and abilities to support children with their speech, language and literacy. Rebecca has accomplished postgraduate coursework specialising in the middle years of schooling, career development and counselling and delivered academic coaching to children with learning difficulties. Her experience and qualifications position Rebecca as a specialist within the education field.
Rebecca possesses a detailed knowledge of the Australian Curriculum with first-hand familiarity of the classroom setting as well as the broader educational context. This knowledge enriches her practice as a speech and language pathologist. In addition to supporting clients’ speech, language and literacy needs through evidence-based therapy services, Rebecca is skilled in differentiation. Additionally, she recognises the essentialness of supports that cater for the unique needs of individual students. Furthermore, Rebecca acknowledges the great benefit of engaging in collaborative partnerships with her clients’ educators, advocating for their communication needs thereby facilitating improved learning outcomes.
The relationship between communication and learning is well-defined and Rebecca is eager to support families through targeted, evidence-based and engaging speech therapy sessions. Rebecca can assess and treat a wide range of speech and language difficulties in children from 3 years of age to 18 years of age. She will work closely with you as the parent/guardian to establish and prioritise your child’s communication needs.
Rebecca can assist with assessment and intervention relating to the following:
Communication skills
Speaking: verbal expression difficulties
Understanding: comprehension difficulties
Social communication difficulties
Late talker
General difficulties expressing thoughts and/or understanding language
Development of early literacy skills such as reading and phonological awareness
Speech clarity
Enhancing self-esteem and confidence through targeted academic support
Supporting teenage language needs for academically demanding tasks'
