Pepper
Animal Assisted Therapy Dog In Training - i.e., a puppy
Animal-Handler Team in development: Pepper and Stephanie Mace
Pepper is a lover of fun and mischief. She loves to explore and drag Pickle along with her… sometimes quite literally! While her name could reflect the spice of the salt/pepper combo, it’s seemingly more likely to Steph that it may actually reflect the “Chili” version of the name pepper - she has spunk!
Pepper is only a puppy and comes along with Steph only on her short days to allow her to have some contact with the office, but also establish a positive and calm relationship with the people and space. Pepper is certainly not an animal assisted therapy dog, yet. We will just have to wait and see how her personality develops and whether she feels it’s the right next step for her.
Given her age, she still has a lot to learn. You may see Steph take the opportunity to try and teach her when in the office. Pepper and Steph work as a team, and while you may ask to approach Pepper, please note that Steph may have to say, ‘not right now, sorry’. Pepper and Steph thank you for your understanding.
Down Time
Pepper loves to come into the office, but needs a break too. In discussion with Steph, Pepper thinks two short half-days a week in the office gives her a good balance of fun in the office and lots of “sniff-ari’s” in the backyard. She wishes she could meet you all, but thanks you for understanding her need for rest also.
Fun Pepper Facts
Born July 18, 2022.
Unlike her brother, she is much more likely to bring a toy back after being thrown.
She has recently discovered the small-dog dog parks and never passes up an opportunity to go.
Unfortunately, she has learnt from her big brother to protect the backyard from bush turkeys…
She is definitely in the chewing stage of development, so testing those around her, and challenging them to find ways for her to meet her need while not leaving any damage.
